Passengers on the Wednesday night easyJet flight from Tel Aviv to Luton said police met the plane, seized the snake and arrested the man who concealed it in a food takeout box, the London Evening Standard reported Friday.
The passengers said the scene was not quite as action-packed as those found in the 2006 film, “Snakes on a Plane,” starring Samuel L. Jackson.
“No Samuel L, but an actual snake on a plane. Police about to meet @easyJet arriving from Tel Aviv to Luton,” a passenger named Rafi Addleston posted on his Twitter page.
Another traveler, Michael Harris, said the man who brought the snake aboard was arrested.
An easyJet spokeswoman said the snake, which was tentatively identified as a corn snake, was safely contained in a “small takeaway box” for the entirety of the flight.
“The non-poisonous snake remained in its container at all times and passengers were not in any danger,” the spokeswoman said.
“We have raised the issue with the airport to understand why the animal was not detected during security. The safety of passengers is always our highest priority,” she said.
