Celebrity:I don’t have time for men — Sarah Ofili

Sarah Ofili
Background
My name is Sarah Ofili. I’m a beauty/fitness expert, a fashion designer and a model. My mother is Hungarian and my father, a Nigerian from Delta State. Growing up was bitter-sweet but I have many fun childhood memories. There are also bad memories of being teased and bullied. Other kids playfully call me ‘Oyibo’ and it was annoying! At the secondary school, it got worse- I wasn’t really ever accepted as ‘one of them.’ I was ridiculed from my hair to skin complexion. I thank God my parents did a pretty good job in guiding my siblings and I to handle such racist comments. We grew up to have tough skins.
Modelling
It is something I always wanted to do. As a child, my mother bought a lot of fashion magazines and I watched fashion television too. My father was my biggest cheer leader and he would make me catwalk around the house and praise me. I was actually a tomboy and I still love climbing trees and rocks. While studying in France, I came across a modelling job for some extra cash. Then, I moved to London and I did a couple of modelling jobs.
Beauty business
Beauty is my passion and I love women to look good. I went to the London School of Beauty and Aesthetics. I don’t practise full time but I think of myself as a consultant. I love to review beauty products and give advice on them. But that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to perform the treatments because I am a professional.
Beauty secrets
I have good genes and I do what any other woman does. I try to take care of myself the best way I can and use products that work for me. I exfoliate a lot! I use a home remedy body scrub made from sugar, lemon and olive oil. I love 24 karat gold and therefore use a lot of products that have gold particles in them.
Relationship
I am single at the moment and loving it! I just focus on work now and I have so much on my plate. This means that I barely have time for neither myself nor a man. Ikechukwu and I? We are cool and still remain good friends. We were together and engaged for four years. We are civilised adults and have remained cordial and supportive of each other. I don’t know why people made it a big deal that he showed up at my birthday party that held recently.
My kind of man
Every woman wants to be loved, adored, respected and taken care of. Also, she wants an honest man. Whether you have your money or not, your man should be able to support you and take care of his family. Period! Men love to act like the boss, so I feel it’s only fair to back it up. I am not talking about millions but a man should be financially stable. Women love to feel that sense of security.
Dislikes
I can’t stand arrogance! I despise it. Arrogant and selfish people go hand in hand. I can’t be around anything negative in any way.
Motivation
I wake up everyday feeling happy to be alive. I’ve been through a lot of episodes in my life and I am just trying to do what I love. I surround myself with family and few friends who love me and have my best interest at heart.
Fitness
It has got a little harder now that I am getting older. I try my best to work out as often as I can. I love dancing, yoga, and others. I love food! I am a big eater and my weaknesses are cakes and pastries. That’s why I have to work out twice as hard!
Fashion
I run a fashion label called, Katona and I also design shoes. I had to put it on hold for a while but I will be re-launching it soon.
Project
I have started filming my travel documentary of which I am an executive producer. It should be out next year.
