TCN To Ration Power For Six Days Due To Shutdown Of Afam Power Plant For Maintenance

Power outageStarting from today, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will ration power across the country for six days so as to carry out a scheduled maintenance work.
A statement by the TCN yesterday announced a reduction in power generation by 400 megawatts due to plant shutdown for maintenance by Shell.
“Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) will be carrying out scheduled maintenance work on Okoloma Gas Plant which supplies gas to Afam VI Power Plant, thereby leading to the shutdown of the power plant, resulting in nationwide power rationing”, the statement said.
The shutdown of Afam VI power plant became necessary to allow SPDC inspect and carry out routine maintenance work on the Okoloma natural gas station in Afam, Rivers State, to ensure its technical integrity.
